This vase stands about five or six inches high. The base color is black, with other colors fused over it. The effect looks very much like ceramic, with a gradation in color from the base to the top. Using glass rods and a torch, the tree is flameworked, in relief, onto the surface while the vase is in progress. This method necessitates many reheats, and makes it very easy to ruin one of these while I am making it. The design is meant to give the viewer the impression of a tree in a winter storm.
These vases are numbered and limited to an edition of 100 pieces.
